Hi Jan,
I like this article -- it kind of goes along with the topic of human depravity. It would be a whole lot easier for the hypothetical "Sue" in this article to respond honestly, saying "Sorry, I'm sinful and that's why I responded like this," if this concept is in the background of her thought. But, I'm encouraged by McCulley's words on mortification of sin -- sure, we might be wholly sinful, but through the power of the Spirit we can let Him put that sin to death. I think that's where I need to be focusing on these days!
